WHS Panther Update and
Information-Week Twelve
Thankful-As we move nearer to the
Thanksgiving Holiday, I am reminded me how thankful I am to have a community
like Washougal High School. Our staff, students, and parents make WHS a great
place to be! Thank you for your
continued support!
Thanksgiving Break
(11/21-11/23)-Thanksgiving Break is a great time for students to get caught up
on missing work. Monday and Tuesday please encourage your student(s) to
get any missing work that they can complete that work over Thanksgiving.
Also, many teachers have developed either websites or blogs to support WHS
students. If you are not sure whether your student’s teacher(s) has provided
additional support via the internet, check out our website and go to Departments.
Under individual departments, you will find teachers who have developed
online support. Please remember, that the algebra, geometry and algebra
II math curriculum have online support that includes individual lessons for
each section. Over Thanksgiving break would be a great time to explore
the online math support. WHS students can continue to work on their work at
home. Please encourage them to do so.
Football Banquet -The end of season
football banquet is scheduled for Monday, November 19, at 7:00 p.m. in the WHS
commons. Senior and sophomore families, please bring main dishes; juniors,
bring desserts; and freshmen bring a side dish.
Stuff the Bus 2012-The Stuff the Bus
competition is in full swing and will run through December 7. If you visit the
high school you will see in the main entrance food beginning to pile up.
Community members are invited to drop off non-perishable canned or boxed foods,
household supplies and unwrapped toys at any Washougal school. If you
have any questions about this event please contact Jim Reed at 954-3133.
You can also visit the Camas-Washougal Business Alliance website for
additional information as well as how you can help at
http://www.cwbusinessalliance.com/stuffthebus.html
Winter Sports-Winter sports teams
are preparing for their first 2012-13 competitions. If you have questions
about winter sports contact Doug Cox, Athletic Director at 954-3104. You
can see the practice schedules on our Sports calendar. The Sports calendar can
be found under the Calendar heading on our website (www.washougal.k12.wa.us/whs).
Volunteer Fair-Students will be
participating in a Volunteer Fair at WHS on Tuesday, November 28.
Students will visit the fair in groups and learn about many of the
opportunities to volunteer in the community. Currently, we have twenty
organizations planning to attend and quite a variety of potential experiences.
We have the fire cadet program, Habitat for Humanity, the scouts, Children's
Home Society, Vancouver Regional Library (and the Washougal branch), Special
Olympics............just to name a few. If you have questions or want to
get involved contact Marsha Spencer at 954-3121 or via email at
marsha.spencer@washougalsd.org.
Parents play a big role
in our success-As I stated earlier, we are so thankful for the support we
receive from our Panther Parents and Community. Through your volunteer
work you touch the lives of every child at Washougal High School. You
make us better.
There
are many opportunities to get involved and we encourage you to find your
niche. Some of the different service areas for adults here at Washougal
HS are as follows:

Parent Advisor
Council (PAC)-Meeting next meeting is Monday, November 26 in the library
starting at 6:30 pm. The Washougal High School Parent Advisory Council (PAC) is
comprised of parents who want to know more about the inner workings of
Washougal High School. The PAC meets once a month to discuss issues of
importance to the entire school community and is a representative body that
provides the perspective of parents to the WHS administration through regular
communication with the principal. The PAC also serves to provide parent
feedback on school policies and procedures and has a role in the development
and implementation of the WHS School Action Plan.
After School Help and
Computer Availability-All teachers are available from 2:30-2:55 after school. It is
best if students communicate with their teacher to schedule after school
assistance. The WGIL (Whole Group Instruction Lab) is available after school
from 2:30-3:30 pm, Monday-Friday. The Career Center (7 computers) is
available from 2:30-3:30 pm, Monday-Friday. The library is available from

Need help on thesis statement or essay writing? Hi! I'm a college counselor looking to help with personal statements and college applications. I have worked as an online consultant for top Chinese students to get into American schools for 3 years. I know what it's like to get overwhelmed with your application, and I deliver quality work on time. I have a BA from a "top ten school" and understand how to navigate both the transfer and freshman application processes. I know exactly what type of information should go into your essay in order to have the best chances of getting in!
