Panther Updated and Information-Week Ten

WHS Panther Update and Information-Week Ten

Conference Week Recap

For the entire week, we released WHS students early so we could meet with students and parents.  There were several multiple-teacher conferences, mostly facilitated by Ms. Boyden, Mr. Washburn and Mr. Sanford.  We had single teacher conferences occurring throughout the afternoons and Thursday evening. In addition to the parent conferences, the WHS staff provided additional support, I have attempted to list what else happened:
  • Ms. Mackey, Mrs. Spencer and Mrs. Watts met with seniors in the career center.  They looked at current progress (graduation requirements, grades, etc) and discussed future plans (5th year and beyond).
  • Ms. Buchanan, Ms. Nickolas and Mr. Carver took turns providing support in a computer lab for any student who wanted or needed access to a computer.  This was mainly provided for seniors to work on their senior paper.
  • Mr. Anderson, Mr. Fitts and I worked with approximately seniors needing to complete a collection of evidence in math.
  • Mr. Blaesing and Mr. Jenkins provided information about how parents can access the amazing resources provided by our new math curriculum.  This occurred in the library on Thursday.
  • I also noticed throughout the week students working either with teachers in classrooms or sitting in the senior lounge studying.

I applaud the individual students who were at school working throughout the week. I appreciate the parents and guardians who attended conferences.  I was very impressed with the level of support I witnessed from teachers in the conferences I attended.  I am pleased with the resources (math, teacher websites & blogs, etc) that are available for students and parents.  All in all, it was a good use of valuable time.

WHS Holiday Marketplace Bazaar – The Holiday Bazaar will be held at WHS on Saturday, November 17.  If you haven’t attended, please consider it.
