This is the time of year when each day, week and month seem to be flying by and each month is packed with activities. The month of March for example consists of:
· Curriculum Night March 9 for Incoming 9th graders and parents from 6:30-8:00 PM at WHS
· March 15-17 High School Proficiency Exam or HSPE (7:55-10:40)
· March 14-18 Forecasting for 2011-12 school year (during regularly scheduled class time)
· March 30 thru April 1 Spring Conferences (3 early release days)
Although we are busy, we continue to keep our sights on our goals for this year, which include:
1. To increase student performance on the HSPE and EOC.
2. To increase student the number of passing grades recorded for each semester-Data below
3. To increase the number of students being academically challenged and actively engaged on a daily basis.
4. To improve the school climate
As we look toward next year and how we are attempting to meet the needs of our students, we are looking at how we provide support on a daily basis. For the last year and a half we have dedicated guided study time for students during what is called Panther Time. This spring as a staff we will be looking at the effectiveness of Panther Time as an intervention. If you have thoughts regarding Panther Time or how we can better meet the needs of your student, please contact me at 954-3101 or aaron.hansen@washougal.k12.wa.us. In the next couple of weeks, we will be surveying our students for their thoughts and ideas.
